Artist Biography

Oboist Nicole Golay, bassoonist Cornelia McGiver, pianist Sylvia Buccelli, soprano Kelly Ellenwood and percussionist-composer David Gluck are Madera Vox, a chamber ensemble performing provocative, sophisticated and enlightened repertoire to diverse audiences in the New York City metropolitan area, in schools, and at private house concerts. Their diverse programming includes the best of the traditional wind trio repertoire alongside the works of Dana Wilson, Maurice Ravel and Bill Douglas; innovative arrangements of Kurt Weill and jazz composer Chick Corea; and newly commissioned pieces. The group was founded in 2007 and recently recorded their debut cd at the historic Howland Cultural Center in Beacon, New York. The recording is scheduled for release in early Fall 2009 and will feature composer and ensemble member David Gluck’s Coney Island Suite with lyrics by ensemble member and Broadway veteran Kelly Ellenwood. maderavox.org
