With her recent CD release, "Ashes into Beauty" (2007), Caitlin Jane is a fresh female vocalist upon the music scene. Inspired by the verses in Isaiah 61, the CD is a reflection of the hope and grace of God. The title originated from the first line of the song "Broken Vessel," which she penned in the margins of her notes during class one morning. Her thoughts escaping to Old Testament poetry, she wrote a song that paints a picture of the transforming touch of God on one’s life. Caitlin is grateful for the musical legacy handed down from her grandmother, who grew up in China as a ‘missionary kid,’ and had a gift for singing. “Grannie’s stories always inspired me—beyond just the music—she was a strong woman who lived a fascinating life and was rooted in her faith.” Born and raised in Delaware, Caitlin began creating music as a toddler, belting out songs at the family piano. With piano and vocal classical training, she also enjoyed theatre during her school years. Throughout high school and college, she led worship teams at churches, youth groups, and conferences. From this grew a passion for sharing the word of God with this generation. “If I want to be authentic, then Christ must be at the center of everything I do. I pray that I never compromise on this.” A recent graduate from Messiah College, Caitlin Jane studied World Religions. “College helped me gain a better grasp of different worldviews, which reaffirmed for me that Jesus Christ is the only true hope that crosses all cultures. Music somehow transcends the barriers we encounter when communicating our faith. As we create through music and art, we reflect the Grand Author and Artist of everything, and we humbly bear His creative image. Music is a powerful avenue of expressing deep hunger for life found in our Savior.” While at Messiah, Caitlin helped lead the Powerhouse band every Thursday night in the campus chapel. “The Powerhouse team consistently taught me what it means to be a worshipper in Spirit and in Truth. The group’s incredible desire to serve God hit me every time we prayed together before worship. The Spirit moved in that little chapel where the lights were dimmed and we laid our burdens before God.” Since graduating, she has been traveling and performing from Nashville to New York City, and everywhere in-between. From small-town coffee shops to larger venues, she puts on a captivating live show, while singing solo at the piano. Caitlin is also devoted to speaking on behalf of children. Not only does she address the plight of children in poverty, as an advocate for Compassion International, but she also raises her voice on behalf of the unborn, taking to heart the call to speak up for the least of these. Too, she is fully aware of the challenges facing young women today, and reaches out to them with God’s truth in the midst of a culture bombarding them with lies. Caitlin Jane's style is a blend of piano driven songs with clear, beautiful vocals. Her compelling music, backed by reflective lyrics, evokes deep emotion. The energetic and pure sound she offers touches a chord with young and old alike. Finding joy in the Lord, she professes, “I want to praise God, who has captured my heart, with every chance I have.”
