Imani is an exceptional jazz/world vocalist and arts educator. Her diverse talents have led to collaborations with many national musical ensembles, film and television projects. Most notably, Imani’s voice was featured on the musical soundtrack of the Emmy nominated film 'The Jane Goodall Biography' and on many of the National Geographic Television’s Explorer Series soundtracks. She presents workshops nationally on the traditional music of Asia, West and South Africa, South America and the Caribbean, holding the position of Workshop Presenter and Teaching Artist with the Kennedy Center Partners-In-Education National Touring Program. Since 1989, she continues to be the first and only American to perform, record, and tour with the genuinely traditional Ghanaian ensemble Yacub Addy and ODADAA. Imani has had the honor of performing, recording and touring with numerous renowned artists, such as Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Stephon Harris, Wycliffe Gordan, Sheryl Bailey, Hilton Ruiz, and Djimo Kouyate.
