Artist Biography

Rena Wren is a singer/songwriter/musician who has been writing since age 10 and performing in live bands and theater since about age 14. Her diverse influences include Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Indigo Girls, Cyndi Lauper, Jewel, Sarah McLachlan, Ella Fitzgerald, Dr. Hook, Billy Idol, Robert Plant, and Sting and her musical interests include Rock, Americana, Alt. Country, Bluegrass, Blues, Jazz, Country, Indie, Folk, and Musical Theater.

Rena's unusually eclectic music background and organic approach to songwriting (from her "Soul's Earth", as she puts it) add depth, warmth, spontaneity and color to her dynamic repertoire of songs. Her audiences say she has "something for everyone" and refer to her style as Americana, Alternative Country, and Indie. Since assembling the new band, Rena likes call the style evolving pop folk that holds hands on the left with belting rock and on the right with smooth alternative funk.

Her band members include Rena on guitar and vocals, Rodgey Roach (bass & vocals), Rodney Roach (guitar & vocals), Matt Stone (guitar, dobro, banjo, lap steel & mandolin), Joel Frye (drums), and Laura Lynn Cardenas (vocals). Rena recently released her first solo CD entitled "Sweet Mystery,” a journey of love, relationships, friendships and life and all the accompanying intricacies and serendipitous extremes! The CD is available on Rena’s website at www.renawren.com, Digstation, CDBaby, Itunes and many other stores.
