Bongo and the Point is the result of two musicians (Jim & Dee) and two of their daughters (Elfin & Bree) deciding that they needed to combine their love of music with their desire to start performing live. The group, sans Elfin, began singing together in early 2007. Elfin joined shortly thereafter, being fashionably late due to the birth of her newest baby boy. Jim & Dee have been writing and singing together since before they were married; they celebrated their 35th anniversary last year. The band has been playing locally about twice a month at events and coffee shops where they have been building their repertoire and a small following. They perform mostly oldies, but will be performing their original rock opera, “The Selfish Giant,” live this summer, and hopefully many times afterwards.
